Dany Odins lucky punch

back to Heliosis

Dany was a solitary hacker and open source fanatics. He did not understand the text he had found on the extended memory. He wrote the text, however, and finally extended the text to the book Heliosis, from the Big Bang to the Big Bang. Previously, Dany had tried anonymously with the book „Future Hotel and Business Software“ or „Fight against the commission, protection or license money mafia in the hotel industry“, but it was only a mediocre success compared to heliosis. But Dany was also not a success, otherwise he would not work as a small office worker in a completely meaningless state. He is something like a hacker who sits every free minute in front of his PC’s or has recently joined his mobile phone with his server and then plays on the server. He lives almost on his server, knows all systems and can use all programming languages. And if he can not, but needs, one, he still uses them as if he had learned them. Yes, for him it was a game and his life content to look at the activity on the web and to take specific actions whenever he thought it necessary. Not long ago, a blatant attack on a computer of the government. He could track the attacker, hack his computer, and put a root kit on it. Then he cleaned the computer over night, cunning about the person, it was a 12-year-old boy who wanted to make himself important and played harmless files and programs that these 12-year-olds met well on the computer. The next day, the police confiscated the boy’s computer, they found nothing surprising about their hacking attack. All the logs were available but clean. Yes, they came from a boy of the same age, with only IP’s and names replaced.
The moment Dany had prepared the computer, the matter was forgotten for him, he just noticed an interesting activity of an access computer to a nuclear power station … ..
Dany’s only contact was Jonny_White_Hat. Yes, he knew only the pseudonym, and they initially had contact only through a common email server. However, they did not send any emails, they simply wrote them and the other had access to them. Jonny_ had once built a compiler, that is, designed its own programming language and deposited it on the email server. Hours later, Dany filed a program in this new programming language that works with complex protocols for which there were no interfaces before. This was the everyday life for Jonny and Dany. There were only a handful of people in the world who could provide them with the IT world’s water and which were specialized in what Jonny_ and Dany avoided. This very time-consuming life setting was also a reason why the two had no friends and did not want a demanding job. Dany once said to Jonny_ that he would only be tempted as a programmer, system analyst, admin or security officer. Only Jonny understood what he meant. He did not want to endanger his freedom and not have to specialize.
Since the Web 2.0 the startups with and on the Internet, like the Schwammerl in the forest. Countless forums, platforms and online portals emerged. Not the best have prevailed, but several factors played a role. Not least the time, the name for the startup and the luck. Otherwise, Facebook or Twitter would never have been known, because the programs they started with were so primitive and even bungled that almost every student could have had an introduction to computer science. Despite this, many forums and social media had to close pages that would override users to Facebook or Twitter. Of course, at the beginning, there was also some help with fake accounts etc. However, it had become a new trend, that one lured the users on sides and gave them the opportunity to communicate and offer their data to the public. With these free employees, you could easily earn money. Sure, many have tried and only on Facebook and Twitter it worked. The first rush has both been well utilized and then they have to be told that they were very good businessmen. The same goes for Google and Amazon. But everyone can not be so lucky and additionally have so much nonsense to start the right project at the right time.
Dany was lucky, because in the hotel and tourism industry there was at that time the wildest usury with commissions. For a reservation in a hotel would be 2 to 5 per cent appropriate and long time were 8 per cent usual. But when a company acquires a monopoly, it can exploit this power and demand completely insolent commissions, which are already between 20 and 30%. And to do so almost without a consideration. Almost all the hoteliers were dependent on an online portal and many had to close down their business because the commissions were simply unpayable. There you could get your money right on the bench and wait until it was exhausted by inflation. In this time, Dany wrote a book with a pseudonym, explaining how to deal with a good, efficient, environmentally friendly, paperless concept, open source software and especially an ERPS (Enterprise Resource Planning Software) from the dilemma Could save. Dany created this concept with Ubuntu or Fedora, Odoo, Postfix & Dovecot, MySQL or PostgreSQL, AmaViS, Clam Antivirus, SpamAssassin, Roundcube, Libreoffice, Backup Manager, Firefox, own scripts, Evolution and OpenXchange Or remot could be implemented in a data center. Open source software was also used for the workstations. With this software, even smaller companies, who were already on the verge of giving up, once again had a chance.
When Jonny_ learned that Dany wrote this book, he got an old, dusty copy of the book „Future Hotel and Business Software“ and there was to read for example:
„I find it inconceivable how companies that have come to a kind of monopoly position can exploit this power. In some cases, even the state must regulate itself, because these blood suckers otherwise ruin their own customers. As an intermediary commission or as a commission for the use of a mediocre technology, I believe it is 2-3 per cent, but never 20 to 30 per cent of the turnover. Obendrein, these blood suckers already exist on best price guarantee and prohibit a hotelier, that the latter sells directly through the own homepage its service cheaper.
This is not enough, no smoking and no smoking, labeling of the goods, cash payment and then also licenses and horrendous costs for the hotel management software, accounting and payroll accounting.
The problem with the commissioning madness would of course be quite easy to solve, because if all hoteliers from today would not pay commissions to special search engines, price comparators and online portals, there would be no more tomorrow and the number of bookings would be the same. Unfortunately, one can not expect such a closeness from the hoteliers, which is why I for those who want to free themselves from the dependency wants to create ERP & PMS.
Hotel-ERP & PMS puts an end to all this and by saving costs on already indicated areas, you can immediately offset any sales losses if you do not receive any bookings from the Provisionsmafia more and in the long term again to a profit, which a well- If it does not have to pay „protection and oppression charges“.
Instead, invest a part of the commissions that you have paid up to now in „Google AdWords“ and against you a part directly to your customers. They achieve independence.
Hotel ERP & PMS is a struggle and an attempt to make a contribution to the people (programmers) who have done a really good job and continue to do so. Anyone who is satisfied with Hotel ERP & PMS should allow the creators of the open source software they use to make a donation at their own discretion if this allows the financial situation. “
Indeed, it was a struggle, a concept, and an attempt to make survival easier for smaller businesses. Dany had allegedly so great success that he could support the open source community vigorously and this in turn responded with an adaptation of their software to its proposed concept. Already after a short time, all the online portals, which only lived by the intermediary commission, had to give up all the price comparators and special search machines and to file for bankruptcy. However, the employees of these companies came under the now healthy tourism sector and were now doing a valuable job.
The concept provided that the customer or guest entered their data during a booking and that these data were then used up to the annual balance sheet. There was no receptionist and no bookkeeping that had to enter even a single, redundant date. The software was suitable for all areas, not just for sales and purchasing, warehousing, bookkeeping, payroll and web presence, but there were thousands of additional, free modules from Odoo, the ERP software. The savings through the efficient system should be passed directly to the customer and the users of the system Future Hotel Software agreed that they offered the best price on their own homepage. Google took advantage of the opportunity and booked with a hotelfeature on Google Maps that showed available rooms in the selected environment and the respective price. It was a free service by Google, because they earned by the use of the feature by switching, as usual advertising.
The advantages of this software became the standard software in companies and in private use, since Future Hotel Software was followed by the Future Business Software for all industries. The open source community gathered, met, discussed and they built the software directly in the respective Linux distributions, so it was very simple to install and configure them. The system was also extended by one version for large companies where the server ran in a cloud. “
The „Red_Hat_Hotelmanager“, ie Dany, was celebrated mainly as a kind of Robin Hood in the hotel industry and in the open source community he also had a kind of hero status. However, the project was hardly a success, Dany Odin was no longer interested. He wanted to turn back to his old passion, hacking, artificial intelligence, and the androids, but it was different from what he imagined.
